It’s clear coffee is our passion. Our team works hard everyday to further master the art of roasting, brewing, and delivering great coffee to all of our loyal customers. However, we understand that most people drink beverages outside of Nitro Cold Brew (I mean, we don’t, but still), so we want to be able to offer variety to our customers. To do so, we have partnered with two great Kombucha companies, Marin Kombucha and GT’s Kombucha, to provide freshly brewed Kombucha on tap at both our Pentagon City shop and to our on-premise customers.
What is Kombucha?
If you’re still skeptical about the fizzy beverage rising in popularity, particularly among the healthy crowd, we’ll break it down for you. Kombucha is a beverage made by fermenting tea with a culture of yeast and bacteria resulting in a refreshing carbonated beverage packed with beneficial bacteria, minerals, and electrolytes. It helps boost energy levels, supports and maintains a healthy immune system, and curbs the average soda craving, making for a healthier alternative to other sugar-laden drinks.

As we began brainstorming different ways we could offer alternative beverage options to both our retail customers and on-premise clients, we quickly thought Kombucha was the perfect offering for a few reasons. When it comes to beverages, we believe in a ‘less is more’ approach. After all, our Nitro Cold Brew coffee consists of just water, coffee, and nitrogen, and we wanted to keep that same simplicity in mind when considering other beverages to add to our lineup. Additionally, consumers are swapping sugary beverages, like soda, with ‘better for you’ beverages. Lastly, we all have a certain point in the day where coffee, let alone cold brew, is a no-go if we want any chance of sleeping that night, so an alternative afternoon beverage is welcomed. Because of this, Kombucha was a natural segway, as it gives consumers a refreshing and slightly energizing beverage without caffeine or the heavy amounts of processed sugars and artificial ingredients that come with other soft drinks. Our Kombucha partners have helped us expand our offerings and appeal to a wider array of customers in both the DMV and NYC markets by offering a healthy delicious beverage on tap alongside our Nitro Cold Brew.

- 1 oz lime juice
- ½ oz raw honey
- 1 oz tequila
- 1 oz triple sec
- 2 oz Gingerade Kombucha (or your favorite flavor)
- Splash of seltzer
- Fill the cocktail shaker with ice
- Shake the lime juice, honey, tequila, triple sec in a shaker
- Add the kombucha and shake lightly while keeping a firm grip on shaker lid
- Pour into a class rimmed with salt and serve with a lime slice
